Two of Six

We've had between two and six deer yarded up in the area this winter. Usually it's a herd of four; two adult does with this year's young, but at times all six will wander through the pasture. They've been loving the low snow pack that's been allowing them to forage for acorns under the big oaks. The one to the left fascinates me with its color - I don't know that I've ever seen such a dark colored deer before. At dusk she almost looks black against the snowy backdrop.

Guilty admission: I refer to this herd as "All the Single Ladies".  When I see them I always sing that song to them, and the sound is so horrific to their ears that they scatter immediately.  If ya like it then you shoulda put a buck on it...heh heh heh.
